The Youth Advisory Committee guides the work of the Schools for Girls of Color Learning Network and participates in our events, providing recommendations based on their lived experiences and gaining hands-on leadership experience. Our Youth Advisory Committee is comprised of youth under the age of 25 who identify as female. Membership on the Committee offers leadership opportunities for young girls and women to shape the work of the Learning Network and inform school community workers about their perspective and experiences.

In December 2020, the Youth Advisory Committee hosted a virtual event that explored the unique challenges created by the presence of SROs in schools, concerns about SRO misconduct in schools, and options for improving relationships between girls of color and SROs. More than 185 educators, policymakers, nonprofit leaders, and other members of the Learning Network attended and participated in a dynamic conversation.
