Justice for Youth Survivors Initiative
The Justice for Youth Survivors Initiative aims to transform the legal system’s treatment of girls and gender-expansive youth who have experienced abuse. Co-led by the Center on Gender Justice & Opportunity at Georgetown Law and the National Black Women’s Justice Institute, with input and leadership by girls and law students, the initiative promotes justice through education, resources, and advocacy.
Adultification Bias Initiative
The Center is proud to serve as a leading voice in raising awareness about adultification bias against Black girls and providing solutions to overcome it. The Center’s preeminent research report, Girlhood Interrupted: The Erasure of Black Girls’ Childhood, documented what Black women and girls already knew well from their life experiences: adults perceive Black girls as less innocent and more adult-like than their white peers, from ages as young as 5-9 years old.
Past Initiatives
