The Study is on Arrests of Women Who Report Sexual Assault or Abuse
The Center on Gender Justice & Opportunity at Georgetown Law is conducting a study on women who report sexual assault to police but are arrested for giving police “false” information—even though they are actually telling the truth.
Have you ever been arrested after reporting a sexual assault to police? If so, you are invited to participate.
In our interviews, we will ask about the arrest. We will not ask questions about the sexual assault unless there a reason comes up that makes it necessary.
The interviews will help us understand how it feels to be arrested when a person is not believed. We also will ask for your ideas to improve police officer’s responses to people who report sexual assault and abuse.
Participants will get a $100 gift card from Amazon.com.
If you are interested in participating or if you have questions, please email Professor Lisa Avalos at lra24@georgetown.edu.
