Policing not only affects the educational attainment of girls of color in schools. It also affects their health.
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 12:30 PM EST the Learning Network hosted a conversation with experts on the health consequences of policing on girls of color in schools and how educators can support their students.
We were joined by Janaé Bonsu, Senior Research Associate at the National Black Women’s Justice Institute, and Thalia González, Full Professor at Occidental College and Senior Scholar at the Initiative on Gender Justice and Opportunity at Georgetown Law.
By the end of this conversation, members were equipped with tools to effectively advocate for culturally and gender-affirming mental health services that can reduce the harm of policing in schools.
