Featured Trainings

Criminalized Survivors Training
We offer trainings based on our work on the sexual abuse to prison pipeline, which began with the release of our first report in 2015. Based on our expertise, reports, and in-depth surveys of existing state laws, we offer trainees the opportunity to learn about survivors’ pathways into the justice system; root causes for their criminalization; and legislation designed to disrupt the pipeline.

Adultification Bias Training
We offer trainings on adultification bias against Black girls that are rooted in the groundbreaking quantitative and qualitative research the Center first released in 2017 and 2019. The trainings, developed with input from practitioners in the field, are tailored to various public sectors, including judges, prosecutors, healthcare workers, and educators. These trainings provide industry leaders and practitioners with the knowledge not only to recognize adultification bias, but to implement practical solutions that can be implemented to overcome its harmful effects.

Trainee Testimonial
This training was extremely valuable for my and my colleagues’ understanding of the disproportionate impact of the juvenile justice system on Black girls. … Most importantly, this training has given me practical tools to ensure that Black girls in my jurisdiction are seen, heard, treated equitably, and empowered by the justice system rather than harmed by it. This training should be a part of every prosecutor’s office’s onboarding materials and a component of their ongoing training!
