My name is Manzili Kokayi. My main goal in life is to help cultivate a better world for future generations. I work towards this goal through spreading positivity in personal interactions, participating in research for sustainability, and working to uplift the voices of those who may not usually be heard. I am a junior in college at NC A&T State University, studying chemistry and working in supercapacitor research. Outside of school, I wrote a piece for NPR Youth Radio on the surge in activism this past summer and how artists have spoken up through their work. It was an important piece to me because it highlighted how youth decided to participate in the civil rights movement that really heated up this past year. I joined the Girl’s Network last year, after being introduced to it by Alani Rouse and have loved participating in the program. Young women of color are rarely heard, and this program gives us a platform.
