At the 2017 In Solidarity We Rise conference, hosted by National Crittenton, Executive Director Rebecca Epstein and Dr. Jamilia Blake presented findings about adultification bias from the recently released report, “Girlhood Interrupted: The Erasure of Black Girls’ Childhood.” They discussed the data showing that adults view Black girls as less innocent and more adult-like than their white peers. During this conference, Rebecca and Senior Scholar Thalia González also presented their findings from the co-authored report “Gender & Trauma: Somatic Interventions for Girls in Juvenile Justice: Implications for Policy and Practice.”
